A meeting was held at "QazaqGaz Science and Technology Center" LLP, where representatives from Nazarbayev University and the Kazakhstan-British Technical University (KBTU) delivered a presentation to employees of QazaqGaz’s subsidiary organisations on the topic: “Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning in the Gas Industry.”

During the event, the role of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods in addressing challenges within the gas sector was discussed, with particular focus on:

• Prediction of gas hydrate formation – a critical issue encountered during the transportation of natural gas;
• Optimisation of production processes and forecasting of gas field performance;
• Early diagnosis of technological risks.

It was highlighted that AI methods enable effective analysis of large volumes of reservoir data, such as pressure, temperature, gas composition, etc., by identifying hidden patterns and generating accurate forecasts. These approaches enhance decision-making quality and improve the operational efficiency of gas field development.

Following the presentation, the participants visited Nazarbayev University, where they were introduced to the laboratories of the School of Mining and Geosciences.

The visit showcased:

• Laboratories for core analysis, petrophysics, and modelling;
• Modern equipment for studying fluids, thermodynamics, and phase behaviour;
• Examples of cutting-edge scientific research conducted at the intersection of geosciences and artificial intelligence.

This laboratory tour allowed specialists from QazaqGaz’s subsidiaries to gain insights into current research in field development and explore the potential for integrating AI into both laboratory and fieldwork activities.
